UNLESS A SEED DIES

by Stan C. Countz
Verse 1:
Waitin’ for a space in the parkin’ lot
Prayin’ for grace from that traffic cop
Parked on the freeway; ain’t got no leeway
Don’t care what they say, gonna make it to the top
My heart is poundin’ as I start up that mountain
Can’t go around it, gotta plough on through
Like a penny thrown in a fountain
Make a wish, it’s bound to come true

Chorus:
Every time life tries to cut me down to size
I realize – You’re my shelter from the storm
Every tear I cry,  every compromise
Every dream that dies – can be reborn
You know how hard I’ve tried
You know the tears I’ve cried
I need to realize, unless a seed dies
It will remain nothin’ but a grain of corn

Verse 2:
When I’ve tried and tried and can’t fall to sleep
When I’ve cried and cried but I’m in too deep
That’s when I need to hit my knees in prayer
That’s when I need to know you’re really there
When the weatherman says we’re in for a storm
And I don’t understand why I’m so forlorn
I need to realize, unless a seed dies
It will remain nothin’ but a grain of corn

Chorus:
Every time life tries to cut me down to size
I realize – You’re my shelter from the storm
Every tear I cry, every compromise
Every dream that dies – can be reborn
You know how hard I’ve tried
You know the tears I’ve cried
I need to realize, unless a seed dies
It can never be reborn
